I am in the indoor tanning industry and I recommend two things when it comes to tanning (indoor or outside). Only tan in moderation. When tanning in a tanning bed, use an indoor tanning lotion, even if it is just something cheap and when outside in the sun tanning always use a good SPF tanning lotion. This will help keep your skin healthy and slow down the aging process.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your valuable advice. You are right tanning should be done with the back-up of a high SPF lotion. Do keep dropping in with your suggestions and participation in the blog.

Hugs,

I totally agree, sunscreens are a must to keep our skin protected from those harsh UVA and UVB rays. We are now switched on thankgod and are educated to understand that these rays not only cause cancers, they break down our collagen and elastin. What better and cheaper way of staying youthful than to apply suncreen. At my clinic we only use non-chemical sunscreens which studies have shown that the chemical componants of sunscreens can be absorbed by the body and into our liver. Not good. So, make sure your suncreen contains either titanium dioxide or zinc oxide and no nasties.
Check out our website for more information on these suncreens www.skinmatrix.com.au

You’re right, a sunscreen is absolutely important! I would also suggest that people check out the Skin Deep cosmetics database to ensure, 1) the sunscreen is as effective as advertized and, 2) the sunscreen is safe.

Cheers,
