I’m sorry, but I think these are a bit over-the-top. For example, number one is just plain silly. I work for an auto-finance company, and we only take checks over the phone if you want to make a payment that day. If everyone were to heed this advice, we wouldn’t be able to take any payments.

I think common sense should prevail more than this type of paranoid nonsense. Be careful with who you give your information to, monitor your checking account on a weekly basis, keep track of all your checks. Simple, less paranoid.
