Dr.Ann Blake Tracy might be a worthwhile resource. Her research would take Dr.Mirkin’s comments and expand upon them to present depression and the workings of anti-depressants in a more complete perspective.
I have to admit that I am very disappointed by Dr.Mirkin’s lack of comment on nutrition. The Journal of Medicine recently stated that it won’t be long before it will be considered malpractice for a doctor to visit with a patient without discussing nutrition. Anti-depressants CANNOT be spoken of as lightly as they were by Dr.Mirkin, especially mixing. The body is such a complex system that one’s internal terrain and nutritional habits MUST be understood intimately before recommending any anti-depressant medication regimen.
